Begin your journey in the urban jungle of Rio de Janeiro, traversing Tijuca Forest to visit iconic Christ the Redeemer and taking the famous cable car to Sugar Loaf Mountain. Wander Rio's fascinating and tranquil Botanical Gardens, before jetting off to the middle of the Amazon Rainforest where the adventure truly begins! Stay at a lodge in the heart of the Amazon and soak up the unique atmosphere, enjoying walks and river safaris to discover the sights and sounds of this vast rainforest. Then head to the world's largest tropical wetlands, the Pantanal, for an immersive experience in Porto Jofre as you seek out the elusive jaguar, then transfer to a wildlife lodge for an exhilerating 3 days of spotting capybara, caiman and countless bird species in their natural habitat.

Spend the day touring the city of Rio de Janeiro. Key sights will include the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Aterro do Flamengo park. Continue to the neighbourhood of Urca, where you will take a cable-car up to Morro da Urca and onwards to Sugar Loaf Mountain to enjoy spectacular views over the city. Then, visit the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer, before stopping at Mário Filho Stadium, better known as the Maracanã, and the nearby Sambódromo. Overnight in Rio de Janeiro.

Today, visit one of Brazil's most impressive botanical gardens, the Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro, which was created in the 19th century. Located in the heart of the buzzing metropolis, these lush, spacious gardens are an oasis of calm with an astonishing array of both native and foreign plant species (about 6,200 in all), some of which grow to gigantic proportions in this ecological paradise. Tamarins (small omnivores related to monkeys) and a myriad of colourful bird species thrive amongst the flamboyant vegetation. The tour proceeds on foot around the park, revealing a rich historical and cultural heritage, such as the old gunpowder factory and the Solar da Imperatriz, home to the National School of Tropical Botany, the first of its kind in Latin America.

You have an early start today, as you embark on your Amazon adventure! The journey to your remote lodge takes approximately three hours by speed boat and mini-van. En route, you will stop to observe the magnificent Meeting of the Waters. On arrival at the lodge, you will be greeted with a welcome drink and exotic fruits, then lunch, comprising regional and international dishes. In the afternoon, you will embark on a canoe trip of the igarapés (Amazonian creeks) and igapós (flooded forest). You may swim in the Amazon River during this excursion, and may be lucky enough to spot the pink river dolphins who reside here. Return to the lodge for dinner then take a guided evening walk to observe frogs, birds and caymans. Overnight at the lodge.

Early in the morning, depart for a sunrise excursion to witness the transformation of the sky and listen to the sounds of the waking birds (guides will have binoculars for you to use). Enjoy a breakfast with typical fruits and regional food. Depart for a jungle hike, during which your expert guide will introduce you to the wildlife of the Amazon, pointing out plants and describing their uses, as many are edible or medicinal. Return to the lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, board a motorboat to fish and learn more about the infamous piranha, as well as other Amazonian fish native to the river. Return to the lodge while enjoying the sunset from the boat. Dinner will be provided from the fish you caught earlier in the afternoon. Following dinner, a guide will offer an informal lecture regarding everyday life in the Amazon, and the legends, traditions and culture of the region. Overnight at the lodge.

After breakfast, depart the lodge for a hike, followed by a stop in a scenic area of the forest for lunch (regional cuisine baked over a fire) and subsequently rest in hammocks, as the natives do. In the afternoon, visit a local native house and learn from the inhabitants about their fascinating culture. A native will share his knowledge of the traditional medicinal plants and demonstrate how to prepare manioc flour, one of the region's main economic resources. Return to the lodge and enjoy your final dinner in the Amazon. Overnight at the lodge.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Manaus Airport for a flight to Cuiabá (may include one connection). En route to the airport, stop at the Pirarucu Floating Dock to see the giant pirarucu fish (also known as arapaima), which reach up to 3 metres long and 200 kg. You will have a chance to feed the fish and observe their impressive strength. On arrival at Cuiabá Airport, you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Cuiabá.

After breakfast, take a photo safari and canoeing excursion on the waterways surrounding the lodge, keeping your eyes peeled at all times for wildlife including capybara, caiman, monkeys and iguanas. After lunch, hike to the 25 m / 82 ft high Howler Monkey Tower in time for a spectacular sunset. Enjoy dinner at the lodge then take a night drive, during which you may spot tapir, tarantula and giant anteater, to name a few.

On your final full day in the Pantanal, after breakfast hike the Rondon trail to the 12 m / 40 ft high Tuiuiu Tower, where it is possible to see the nest of a jabiru (a large stork endemic to the area). After lunch, go horse riding (2-3 hours) through the grazing fields, woods and flood lands. Enjoy a final dinner at the lodge then sit by the fire to reflect on your experiences or attend a presentation about the Pantanal and lodge.
Please note: Guests are asked to always be quiet and respectful of nature when wildlife-spotting in the Pantanal, but particularly when viewing the jabiru's nest from Tuiuiu Tower.
