Itanagar

Posted 19th September 2008 by David McGuinness

Today I met up again with Komkar, and the guide for the first tour, C.K. Rai, who was very nice and also very experienced, having over 12 years experience as a guide in the region. We discussed the itinerary in great detail, as well as back-up plans where necessary, as certain roads may be impassible. The good news was that there were back-up routes available on the troublesome routes that meant we wouldn’t have to change the schedule or the stop offs. Komkar’s wife has invited me for dinner this evening and Komkar let slip that she has been looking at books and wants to cook me an Irish meal! I can’t wait for some Guinness Beef Pie!

I will base myself in Itanagar for the next while until I go back to meet our first group at the Eco-camp on September 28th. Between now and then I will hopefully meet with a representative of Future Generations, an NGO that carries out many empowerment and education initiatives in Arunachal and if possible go out and see their work in action, as theirs are the kind of development projects we will potentially be looking to invest in.
