Tour description

Situated on the Red Sea, Jordan is a country loaded with everything a traveller could wish for. This tour takes in the main highlights of Jordan. Petra with its jaw-dropping rock carvings and landscapes often steals the show, but Jordan offers much more and is crammed with ancient and geographical treasures - from Roman amphitheatres and temples to the unreal sand dunes of Wadi Rum. Float effortlessly on the Dead Sea looking across to Israel and spend a night in eco-friendly Dana Biosphere Reserve, Jordan`s largest nature reserve.

This makes for a great short trip or the perfect extension to our Syrian Odyssey or Syrian Snapshot adventures.

Day 1

Start from Damascus or Amman. Short visit of Amman citadel for those starting in Amman. Drive to the Dead Sea (the lowest point in the world) for lunch and float in its incredibly buoyant and therapeutic waters (due to the high salt level). Drive to Petra. Evening free. Overnight in comfortable hotel in Petra. Meal plan: B

Day 2

Recently voted as one of the world`s seven wonders, take a full day to visit this incredible UNESCO heritage site including the treasury and al-Deir monastery but also taking in some of the beautiful yet lesser visited areas. Picnic lunch provided. Buffet dinner in the evening. Overnight in comfortable hotel in Petra. Meal plan: B,L,D

Day 3

Drive to Wadi Rum, the setting for film Laurence of Arabia. Full day exploring this stunning Bedouin desert by jeep including canyons, rock bridges and spectacular dunes. Picnic lunch. Overnight in a Bedouin tent or sleep out under the stars, the choice is yours. Meal plan: B,L,D

Day 4

Drive to Dana National Reserve, Jordan`s premier eco-tourism project. Full day visit of this verdant park including the 15th century stone village of Dana itself. Experience the park`s vast diversity and some of its 100 archaeological sites. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight in Dana Guest House. Meal plan: B,L,D

Day 5

Drive back to Amman or Damascus (according to your drop off point). Meal plan: B
